Pharmaceutical Name: Ethyl alcohol, or ethanol. An intoxicating ingredient found in beer, wine and liquor. It is produced by the fermentation of yeast, sugars, and starches.

Street Names: Booze, etc.

Signs of Use: Injuries and risky behavior, including drunk driving and inappropriate sexual behavior; impaired judgement, lack coordination, and reflexes; slurred speech, memory problems.

Detection Window:

  • Urine - Approx. 24 hrs

  • Oral Fluid - After absorption (~1 hour) blood alcohol decreases ~.02 gm%/hour
